AEP
All Utilities are the residents' responsibility.
We always want to set our new residents up for long-term financial success and bliss in the home, so please note the following:
AEP is the electric company. If you have not worked with them before, you will be asked to place a deposit. You can pay them online and you can ask specifics about how much your deposit will be. Always make sure that you understand their grace period and late fees. Even if you are not required to have a deposit due to prior history with them, you may be required to submit a deposit if you are ever late paying. The deposit is based on your credit score, so please be diligent in understanding their requirements. Ask lots of questions. These requirements change often, so we can't possibly keep up here. They also are open 24 hours - the best time to reach them is during late night hours. We just want you to be a wise and happy electric customer.
Per your lease, you are legally responsible to be up to date on all your electric bills, plus we know you enjoy the gorgeous lighting in your new home, so please budget accordingly.
Lancaster Municipal Utilities
The Lancaster Utilities office is filled with helpful staff ready to explain all the services that they offer. No kidding, the staff is amazing! The natural gas, water, sewer, trash, and storm drain services all go through this local utility office. We have loved working with the office as they provide a budget program that has been super helpful to all our residents. You will need to go into the office with a copy of the lease and your driver’s license in order to transfer the utilities into your name. They do require a small deposit and photo ID for all adults on the lease. Please ask them about the 12 month level billing budget plan; it's important to plan for winter heating bills well in advance.
Again, paying your utilities makes life better on all fronts and is legally your responsibly per the lease. Take a little time to understand what is required and enjoy your comfortable, new home.
