But this home didn’t always have the warm vintage vibe it has now. In fact, it came to us in need of renovations.
It started with a simple conversation between neighbors and friends. The previous owners had a heart and vision to help those coming out of poverty to get a fresh start (see why we had this in common?! we adored them!) However, over time, dishonest folks had moved in and taken advantage of the good, hard work the previous owners had poured into this home - it had even been a family home for generations which made the bad behavior and damage to the home all the worse! It was time for a fresh start and we treasured that the previous owners trusted us enough to hand the baton off to us.
We had lots of renovations and scrubbing and working with law enforcement at times to get the home back to the original vision and to honor the previous vision. We’re happy to say, this home is back to its wonderful, beautiful self!
With vintage homes, the focal point is always the unique features. This home boasts 3 fireplaces! Swoon! It also has built-ins galore and even a secret attic door. Add in dormer nooks and thick trim, natural light and real wood cabinets, and you’ve got all the makings of a happy-ever-after story.
What we adore about this space: The entry stairway is so much fun! It adds a bit of dramatic appeal when you first walk in and we love a space that has a sense of history. And the fireplaces. Did we mention the fireplaces??
What are we most grateful for? For sure, the previous owners and their hard work, persistence, and wisdom in making a smooth “baton pass.” And now for our renters over the years who work together with us to make sure this gorgeous building continues to be the safe haven it was always meant to be. We are beyond grateful and have the best support in our mission to restore our hometown.
